For over 10 years we have been helping occupiers develop key performance indicators to measure and produce external comparisons to demonstrate their performance. Established in 1994 by Christopher Hedley, IPD Occupiers have developed the largest database of corporate real estate information with well over 72,886 properties from across public and private sector estates. 

Our suite of advanced measurement tools, independent benchmarks, and vital market intelligence helps to provide a balanced view of property in order for occupiers to effectively and efficiently optimise their use of space.   

In 2007 we launched the Global 500 programme which aims to provide a platform for national and global regional teams to come together to discuses global best practices and collect data for global estate benchmarking. By mid- 2008 we will have property data on key cities such as New York, Frankfurt, Dubai, and Hong Kong.
 

Christopher Hedley has been instrumental in introducing performance measurement to corporate real estate. Following a wide-ranging career in property research and town planning consultancy, he founded IPD Occupiers in 1994 and has overseen its growth and development since then. We are now the market leader in the field of performance measurement for occupiers with records for over 60 million square metres of space from 1,000 estates in UK, Ireland and France. Some of the publications we've produced include the IPD Global Estate Measurement Codes, and the award-winning International Total Occupancy Cost Code.

Christopher leads many of IPD Occupiers’ most important projects. These include the Property Benchmarking Project for the whole Civil Estate of the UK Government. The innovative analysis includes costs, space, user satisfaction, sustainability and building operability indicators. 

This project builds on the experience IPD has gained with all 163 universities and 463 further education colleges in the UK, measuring their overall property performance. He also speaks and lectures widely on corporate real estate issues. Christopher also runs the income and management products of IPD.
