Measuring Environmental Impacts with IPD

Accounting for around 40% of global carbon emissions, buildings are on the front line in the fight against climate change – they also have a huge environmental impact through water consumption and waste generation. As a result, corporate property executives are increasingly being asked to provide more detailed information about their estate’s environmental performance. The IPD Environment Code offers a good practice solution to this information challenge.

NEW! Environmental Health Check

IPD recently developed an Environmental Health-Check, which is a series of qualitative measures in questionnaire form, originally designed for occupiers of buildings, but many landlords are also completing the questionnaire to examine their buildings’ environmental credentials from an operational perspective.

There are 40 questions. It is not an exhaustive list, but is a useful starting point in understanding a building’s environmental credentials.
